Ø What is it? The Country Kids Relays is a track meet
of 4x100 relay races for 1st-5th grade. There is a boys, girls, and coed teams for
each age group.
Ø When is it? June 1, 2019 at a specified time. Students do not have to be at the event all
day, but just for a small portion of the day.
The schedule given to me at
this time is as follows:
8:15 2nd grade races 1:00 4th grade races
9:45 1st grade races 2:30 5th grade races
11:30 3rd grade races
Ø Where is it? Willamette University , McCulloch Stadium
Ø How long do I have to be there?
I am unable to give you an exact answer on that, but on average the
students would be there approximately 1 ½ hours.
Ø Who will be there?
I will be there all day with the students. In the past we have also had volunteer coaches
and teachers down on the field with the students.
Ø What should the runners wear?
It is best to run in lighter clothing like a pair of sweat pants or
shorts. I will have relay shirts for students to wear over the top of their
t-shirts at the race.
Ø Are parents allowed on the track?
For
the safety of the students, you as a parent are not allowed on the track
without a coach’s pass. You are only
allowed to go as far as the athlete drop off area.
Drop Off
You’ll notice on the map below the “athlete drop off”
area. This is a fenced off area that
only students and coaches are allowed within for security reasons. Students will enter the area and be shown our
staging location at the Forest Ridge sign.
As a team, all of the students will then proceed to the track area for
their grade level opening ceremonies. Students
will then wait for their turn to run at our team tent. Parking is limited. Once you have dropped of your son/daughter
you may find a seat in the grandstands.
Pick-Up
After the students have raced and have received their ribbons they will
exit the opposite end of the track that they entered and can be picked up at
the fenced off “pick up” area. Relay
teams have been asked to remain at their team tent until all of the grade level
teams have finished running.
